WHERE THE MONEY GOES
All proceeds from The Disco Ball: Wildest Dreams will support more than a dozen new performance projects created by local independent artists at Kindling Arts Festival 2026: Utopias (July 23-26). The annual summer Festival is one of the most vital resources for contemporary and experimental performance artists in the region, removing financial barriers to premiere daring new work.

Queen of the Disco Ball: SHAWN WHITSELL
We honor the extraordinary Shawn Whitsell at this year's Disco Ball! A longtime cornerstone of the Nashville theater community, Shawn has been involved as a writer, director, curator, and producer for multiple decades. As one of our nominators said, "Shawn is one of the most consistent, ambitious voices in Nashville theater." Beyond the stage, his high-impact work as a community activist collaborating with currently and formerly incarcerated individuals makes a massive difference to our community, raising visibility for some of the most overlooked people in our city. We are inspired by Shawn's consistent commitment to the local creative community and his important work with Destiny Theatre Experience, Shades of Black Theater Festival, and just about every arts organization in town. Join us to honor Shawn on April 25th!
